"Spiffle" was his favorite, and he used it to describe anything from his breakfast cereal to a particularly cool volleyball move. Every day, after school, the VolleySquad would meet at the beach, their shorts and t-shirts fluttering in the NJ breeze, their faces shining with anticipation. Spike would make funny faces and crack jokes, making everyone roll on the sandy beach with laughter. But as soon as the volleyball was in the air, their faces would turn serious, eyes focused, as they dived, jumped, and swooshed, making the volleyball dance in the air.
