Once upon a time, in the sunny, sandy state of South Carolina, where the air smells like salt water and barbecue, a group of extraordinary kids gathered every weekend to engage in a fantastic activity. The activity was no ordinary one. It was Painting! These weren't just any paintings though, oh no! They were colorful masterpieces, vibrant rainbows of creativity that would make even a rainbow jealous. Meet our cool imaginary character, Mr. Palmetto, the talking tree, who was the kids' guide and mentor. He was quite the character, with his bark always filled with humor and leaves constantly rustling as he giggled. He had an uncanny knack for mixing up words, often calling a Paintbrush a "Brushpaint" and a Palette a "Letpal." This always made the children chuckle as they corrected him. Mr. Palmetto would say something like, "Now remember kids, dip your brushpaints into the letpal, and let your imaginations run wild!" Despite his word mix-ups, he always had the best painting advice, inspiring the kids to create the most whimsical works of art. These South Carolina kids, with their sun-kissed cheeks and wide smiles, painted stories of the beautiful palmetto trees, the sandy beaches, the glowing sunsets, and everything they loved about their beautiful state. As they painted, they laughed, not just at Mr. Palmetto’s word mix-ups, but also at the sheer joy that painting brought into their lives. Each weekend, they left with paint-splattered clothes, joy-filled hearts, and masterpieces that told the story of their beautiful, laugh-filled, sun-soaked South Carolina.

For over 50 years, Frontier Camp has been dedicated to making disciples of Jesus by sharing God’s Word amidst the beauty of His creation. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and are proudly accredited by the American Camping Association. We’re also a member of the Christian Camping and Conference Association. Our mission is to use Christian camping and outdoor recreation as a means to support local churches in fulfilling the Great Commission—evangelizing people of all ages and discipling believers toward deeper maturity in Christ. Frontier Camp offers a dual ministry: during the summer, we host a 10-week youth camp, and throughout the rest of the year, we serve as a retreat facility for churches and like-minded religious organizations. Whether through summer camps or retreats, our goal remains the same: to expose people to Christ and encourage their spiritual growth through His Word and by reflecting His character in everything we do. While we provide top-notch recreation and exciting programming, the heart of our camp is the spiritual impact, rooted in the truth of God’s inerrant Word.
