Once upon a time, in the enchanting state of South Carolina, nicknamed the "Palmetto State" for its lovely palm trees, a group of kids had a passion for drawing and sketching that was larger than the colossal King Kong. South Carolina is a place of magic with its rolling blue hills, coastal beaches, and spectacular landmarks like the historic Fort Sumter. Every day, these kids, who were as colourful and bright as a rainbow after a rain shower, would gather around in town parks, under the shade of towering oak trees or by the serene coastline, armed with their sketchbooks and pencils. Their leader, a charming character named Sketchy Sam, who was as funny as a jester in a royal court, but as talented as Picasso himself, would guide them. Sketchy Sam had a peculiar way of seeing the world. He believed that each laughing dolphin, each buzzing bee, and even each dancing daffodil had a story to tell. He would encourage the kids to not just draw what they see but also what they could imagine. He was as imaginative as a wizard, dreaming up wild scenarios where squirrels rode on giant butterflies, or where the Atlantic Ocean turned into a giant bowl of blueberry jelly. Every day with Sketchy Sam was a new adventure. The kids of South Carolina came alive with creativity, their pencils dancing across the pages, creating masterpieces that would make even the Mona Lisa jealously blush. Nestled in 178 acres of lush woodland is a serene escape from the city, a place fondly known as Camp Swamp. This overnight Christian camp, located just two hours east of bustling Atlanta, has been serving as a peaceful retreat since 1992. We like to think of it as our own "little slice of heaven," offering a respite from the daily hustle and bustle, and inviting people to reconnect with nature and their spirituality. Our primary offering is a week-long summer camp, but we've expanded over the years to include more than just summer fun. As part of our mission to support families and churches, we now also host three family camps throughout the year, as well as four parent/child retreats. These events offer a chance for families to bond, parents to connect with their children, and individuals to grow in their faith. Moreover, our facilities are not exclusive to our organized events. Camp Swamp also offers rentals to schools, churches, universities, sports teams, and even business groups. Whether you're planning a camp, a retreat, or a team-building excursion, our serene setting and well-equipped facilities provide the ideal backdrop for an unforgettable experience.
