They're as bendy as buckeye branches and as spry as speedy squirrels. The leader of this supernova crew is a character as cool as a cucumber, Captain Funky Footwork. He's not just a regular boy from Toledo. With his disco-ball helmet, shoes that tie themselves, and a heart as big as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, he's a true icon in the Dance Dynamite's universe. Captain Funky Footwork and the Ohio Dance Dynamites are always ready to pop, lock, and drop it! They believe that each river in Ohio beats with a rhythmic flow and every cornfield rustles like a maraca. And so, they dance - in Dayton, in Cleveland, in Columbus, and even in the smallest of Ohio towns. Their dance is not just a regular two-step or a ballet pirouette, it’s a jumble of giggles, wiggles, and Ohio pride, that makes every adult wish they could swing their hips like a hula hoop too. From your child’s first class to their graduation performance, Dancexcel has a class for everyone! We specialize in beginners of all ages and offer training through pre-professional levels. Our studio is a place where students have the opportunity to express themselves and grow in a positive, challenging and uplifting environment all while participating in the art of dance! But, Dancexcel is More Than Just Great Dancing! Our primary objective is to build self esteem while creating talented dancers. Our dancers go beyond technique to develop important life skills – Teamwork, Dedication, Responsibility, Leadership and Strong Self Image.
Elite Dance Academy opened its doors in 1996. Since then we have established ourselves in the community. Offering classes in different styles for every age, skill and commitment level ensures that each dancer can find what’s right for them. Proper technique is taught in a fun, safe and positive environment. The level of instruction received prepares our students to participate in opportunities outside of Elite as well. Several of our dancers have received roles with the Pennsylvania Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet and San Jose Ballet in their versions of The Nutcracker. After graduation, many of our dancers have gone on to earn spots on college dance teams such as Ohio State, Toledo, Akron, Ohio University, UNLV, Kent State and Ashland. Others have done industrials and have danced professionally on the Cleveland Barons, Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Gladiators dance teams, performed on cruise lines, in music videos and in some of Las Vegas’ most prestigious shows.
