Deep in the heart of the Big Apple, where skyscrapers tickle the cotton candy clouds and the hum of the city sways like a never-ending melody, there exists an extraordinary tribe of children. They’re not your ordinary run-of-the-mill kids, oh no! They’re the illustrious New York kickballers, the soccer sensations of the state, the keepers of the goal, the wizarding wunderkinds of the wickedly wonderful world of football! The leader of this brigade, an alley cat named Hattrick, with a crooked tail and a charm that could put the Statue of Liberty to shame, plays the game with the passion of a hundred yellow taxis, and the grace of the Empire State Building. Born and raised on the subway lines, Hattrick had a knack for scoring goals that would make even the most hardened NYC pigeon coo in admiration. The NYC Kickballers, as they were fondly known, would meet under the twinkling lights of Times Square, where the giant billboards reflected on their eager faces. Each day, after polishing off their homework and devouring their hotdogs, they'd rush to the field, their hearts beating like the city's pulsing rhythm. Their laughter echoed through the city streets, their cheers vying with the honks of the cabs, each goal celebrated with the grandeur of a Broadway finale. With every scuffed knee and tousled hair, they embodied the spirit of New York - relentless, spirited, and full of dreams. So, if you ever find yourself in the city that never sleeps, keep an eye out for a sly alley cat dribbling a patchy soccer ball, and kids in jerseys racing in the glow of neon lights. For they are the guardians of the game, the soccer sweethearts of the Empire State, the fabled New York Kickballers!

We are thrilled to introduce Kara Hallett as the new Camp Director at 4-H Camp Owahta! Hailing from Warren Center, Pennsylvania, Kara fondly remembers the summers she spent attending camps at El Rancho de Paz (now Mapleridge Ranch) and Montrose Bible Conference. One of Kara's favorite memories from camp is playing four square with her two older sisters in the gym. She was so excited for her first year at camp that she even fell asleep on the gym floor! We are confident that Kara will bring her enthusiasm and dedication to 4-H Camp Owahta, and we are excited to have her join the camp's leadership team. We can't wait to see what amazing experiences she will create for the campers this year!
