He demonstrates the mighty Mountain pose atop the sand dunes of Sleeping Bear, and executes the perfect Downward Dog near the stunning spires of the Detroit skyline. The kids of Michigan, as plucky and diverse as the state's landscape, are an adventurous bunch. With a spirit as buoyant as Lake Superior canoes, they have learned to flex and bend their bodies into funny shapes under the expert guidance of Stretchy Stan. Imagine a group of children twisting into pretzel-like poses, giggling and wiggling, with the energy of the roaring Tahquamenon Falls. From the intense Warrior Pose in the urban heart of Detroit to the tranquil Tree Pose in the serene Upper Peninsula forests, our Michigander munchkins find joy, laughter, and a bit of zen in their yoga adventures. They stretch and bend, tumble, and stand tall, just like the state’s famous Mackinac Bridge. Trust me, there's never a dull moment when Stretchy Stan and the Michigan Yoga Kids unite. Stretchy Stan, with his acorn-shaped yoga mat and "You Can Do It" attitude, inspires the kids to reach for the stars, even if they land on their bums in the process. At Spotlight Dance Works, we are thrilled to be entering into our 23rd season under the direction of Liz Schmidt. We are proud to provide quality instruction and original choreography to our dancers, helping them to strengthen their technique. Our commitment to excellence is further demonstrated by the success our dancers have achieved; our students have been honored with scholarships to prestigious universities such as Juilliard and NYU, along with American Ballet Theater Intensives, Complexions Contemporary Ballet Intensives, special “Outstanding Dancer” programs in New York City, The Dance Awards, and awards to regional and national conventions. We are also proud to offer our dancers the opportunity to participate in several summer intensives in New York and Los Angeles, taught by some of the top choreographers and teachers in the industry. At Spotlight Dance Works, we are dedicated to providing our dancers with the highest level of instruction and opportunity. Our 23rd season is no different; under the direction of Liz Schmidt, our studio is renowned for its commitment to quality, original choreography, and strong technique. Our dancers have been rewarded for their hard work and dedication, with scholarships to renowned universities such as Juilliard and New York University, American Ballet Theater Intensives, Complexions Contemporary Ballet Intensives, “Outstanding Dancer” programs in New York City, The Dance Awards, and awards to regional and national conventions. In addition, our dancers are eligible for scholarships to summer intensives in New York and Los Angeles, to learn from the top choreographers and teachers in the industry. We are proud to provide our dancers with these opportunities to pursue their dreams.
