These kids aren't just ordinary kids, oh no! They are the artists, the creators, the imaginers, and the dreamers who bring joy to life with just a few strokes of their paintbrushes, or a few folds of their origami papers. Leading this group is a cool, funky, and absolutely imaginative character named Pencil Pete. Pete has a magical pencil for a nose, which can draw or create ANYTHING! Need a rainbow? Pete's on it! Want a unicorn with polka-dotted spots? Pete can sketch it in a second! You see, Pete's pencil isn't like any normal pencil. It's powered by the creativity of all Michigan children who love art and crafts! This incredible gang of Mich-Art-gan Crafters can make the most amazing works of art you've ever seen! From sculptures made of snowflakes on the shores of Lake Michigan to murals that can cover the high walls of Detroit's tallest buildings. They are the Picassos, the Van Goghs, and the Da Vincis of the mitten-shaped state! And the funniest thing about this enchanting group of talent? The more they laugh, the more creative they become! It seems like their creativity is fueled by giggles and chuckles. So, you see, there’s never a dull day in Michigan because amidst the lakes and woods, there’s always a child creating, a drawing coming to life, and most importantly, laughter ringing in the air!

At Spotlight Dance Works, we are thrilled to be entering into our 23rd season under the direction of Liz Schmidt. We are proud to provide quality instruction and original choreography to our dancers, helping them to strengthen their technique. Our commitment to excellence is further demonstrated by the success our dancers have achieved; our students have been honored with scholarships to prestigious universities such as Juilliard and NYU, along with American Ballet Theater Intensives, Complexions Contemporary Ballet Intensives, special “Outstanding Dancer” programs in New York City, The Dance Awards, and awards to regional and national conventions. We are also proud to offer our dancers the opportunity to participate in several summer intensives in New York and Los Angeles, taught by some of the top choreographers and teachers in the industry. At Spotlight Dance Works, we are dedicated to providing our dancers with the highest level of instruction and opportunity. Our 23rd season is no different; under the direction of Liz Schmidt, our studio is renowned for its commitment to quality, original choreography, and strong technique. Our dancers have been rewarded for their hard work and dedication, with scholarships to renowned universities such as Juilliard and New York University, American Ballet Theater Intensives, Complexions Contemporary Ballet Intensives, “Outstanding Dancer” programs in New York City, The Dance Awards, and awards to regional and national conventions.
