Leading the Moose Pucksters is their captain, Feisty Fred. With his maple syrup hair and blueberry eyes, Fred is as Maine as they come. His slapshot is as delicious as a Maine lobster, his defense as sturdy as a lighthouse, and his speed as fast as a moose in full stride. Don't let the funny hat and the mismatched socks fool you, this kid can shimmy, shake and skate like no other. Fred is never without his trusty sidekick, Puck, a feisty little snowman who serves as their team mascot. Puck is known to pull pranks that cause a hilarious ruckus, like replacing hockey pucks with cookies, or turning the Zamboni into a giant snow-cone machine. In Maine, hockey is more than just a game. It's a playful dance on ice, a snowy symphony of laughter and camaraderie. Nestled in 178 acres of lush woodland is a serene escape from the city, a place fondly known as Camp Swamp. This overnight Christian camp, located just two hours east of bustling Atlanta, has been serving as a peaceful retreat since 1992. We like to think of it as our own "little slice of heaven," offering a respite from the daily hustle and bustle, and inviting people to reconnect with nature and their spirituality. Our primary offering is a week-long summer camp, but we've expanded over the years to include more than just summer fun. As part of our mission to support families and churches, we now also host three family camps throughout the year, as well as four parent/child retreats. These events offer a chance for families to bond, parents to connect with their children, and individuals to grow in their faith. Moreover, our facilities are not exclusive to our organized events. Camp Swamp also offers rentals to schools, churches, universities, sports teams, and even business groups. Our goal is to provide a program that promotes the development of character and personal growth in a safe and positive environment. The 12 Arch Ideals are integral to the Camp Takajo experience. These ideals form the foundation of our camp and are the cornerstone of our program. They are emulated by our staff and embraced by our campers. The ideals are reinforced throughout camp in both formal and informal settings, from educational assemblies and campfires to daily interactions. They provide the guiding principles for all of our campers and staff, setting the tone for a positive and meaningful summer experience.
