About Brown Bear Children's Center

At Brown Bear Children's Center, we believe in the importance of developing a nurturing environment to help foster a child's self-esteem and learning. Our program offers activities that stimulate and encourage growth in all areas of development, as well as promote exploration and creativity. Our teachers create a secure, warm, and nurturing environment that allows children to develop self-control, independence, and responsibility. We strive to provide the best learning experience for all our students, by creating an atmosphere that promotes discovery and creativity.

Infants
In each of our two Infant Classrooms, two teachers care for and provide stimulation for up to 7 infants ages 6 weeks to 15 months. Routines are the curriculum for an infant's day and every moment offers an opportunity for learning. Teachers in the infant room help each child to establish trust, tackle motor skills, realize the power of language, and begin to understand their surroundings.

Young Toddlers
In each of our Young Toddler Classrooms, teachers help transition up to 9 young toddlers ages one to two years as they begin to walk, talk, and explore the world around them. Activities in this room match each child's developmental level and foster each child's emerging personality. Children participate in crafts and circle time activities, as well as outdoor play, and Music with MamaSteph!

Preschool
Two teachers facilitate continued cognitive, social, and physical growth for up to 20 children ages 2.9 years to 4 years of age. The Preschool Program curriculum provides the opportunity for free play as well as teacher-directed activities that introduce children to letters, numbers, colors and shapes. Teachers strive to teach acceptable behavior, competence, control, and respect for others while providing a creative and expressive environment for the children to thrive in. Daily activities include crafts, sensory activities, outdoor play and music and movement. In addition, Preschoolers participate in monthly music with MamaSteph, movement on the Fun Bus, and storytelling with Big Ryan!

Pre-Kindergarten
​Two teachers prepare up to 20 children ages 4 & 5 for kindergarten. The Pre-Kindergarten Program allows children the opportunity for self-directed activities that encourage choice, decision making, and independence, while being supported in a loving and nurturing environment. The curriculum in this room focuses on kindergarten-readiness both academically and in developing necessary social skills such as sharing, listening, and cooperation. Daily activities include crafts, sensory activities, outdoor play and music and movement. Fine motor skills are practiced daily. In addition, Pre-K children participate in monthly music with MamaSteph, movement on the Fun Bus, monthly visits from Mad Science, and storytelling with Big Ryan!
