These kids are not your ordinary children. Oh, no! They’re magical engineers of paper, glitter, and glue – the Art & Craft Virtuosos of Mass! They can turn an egg carton into an elegant castle, a sock into a swooning puppet princess, or a handful of macaroni into a thrift store-worthy necklace. They're like wizards, with paintbrushes instead of magic wands, creating worlds out of popsicle sticks and dreams. Their leader is a whimsical character named Doodle McSpray, an old sea captain with a beard as wild as a porcupine’s dream and a hat decorated with glittering bottle caps. Doodle loves to tell stories about his adventures on the high seas, each one more wildly exaggerated than the last. Once, he claimed to have seen a rainbow-colored whale that spat out colorful water jets, which he used to paint his ship! But what Doodle loves most is inspiring the kids. He teaches them how to see the fantastic in the ordinary, how a simple box could be a rocket to the moon, or a paper plate could be a warrior's mighty shield. The US Engineering League is a prominent nationwide establishment that passionately supports STEM-focused education. Since our inception in 2018, we have been the proud USA National Office for the acclaimed World Robot Olympiad, a global robotics competition that has over 35,000 participants from more than 80 countries. We're delighted to be connected with several of the most prominent STEM competition organizations. Our primary learning center is nestled in the heart of Naperville, IL. However, we understand the importance of accessibility and have therefore expanded our reach. We offer our well-rounded programs at a range of locations including schools, community centers, park districts, libraries, and even religious institutions. We are committed to making our educational opportunities available to as many children as possible, regardless of their location. The 4-H mission, pledge, motto, and slogan provide the foundation for maintaining the deep-rooted traditions of Camp Middlesex. The four H’s (Head, Heart, Hands, and Health) are taught to enrich and expand the learning experience. The four areas (Club/Camp, Community, Country, and World) serve as reminders of the many facets of our interaction with our surroundings. The camp’s staff and volunteers work hard to ensure a safe and positive atmosphere for all campers. At Camp Middlesex, campers are encouraged to learn and grow through positive reinforcement and the development of leadership skills. The camp provides a fun and safe environment for all campers to explore and develop leadership skills. Campers are encouraged to think independently and take responsibility for their own actions. Through the camp activities, campers learn to become more independent and develop a sense of community and responsibility. Through their experiences at camp, campers learn to be confident in their decisions and become self-reliant.
