In the heart of America, where fields of corn wave like the sea, lays a curious, charming state known as Iowa, or IA as some would abbreviate. Beyond the bustling cities and bustling farmsteads, a vibrant bunch of kids embark on the most exciting and adventurous nature activities. These kiddos are not your ordinary youngsters. No, sir! They are the intrepid members of the “Iowa Nature Navigators,” led by none other than the legendary Corn-Cob Cowboy. Now, don't laugh at his name; he earned it fair and square when he once rode a giant corn-on-the-cob during a tornado! He's as tough as an oak tree, as wise as an old owl, and as funny as a monkey on a sugar rush. When the golden Iowa sun shines bright, you will find these young explorers trekking through the lush forests, canoeing down the winding rivers, or constructing the most magnificent forts from fallen logs. At times, they find themselves in an epic game of hide and seek with the sly foxes, or in a laughing contest with the chatty parrots. Beneath the vast prairie skies, they learn to identify constellations, earning them the nickname, ‘Star Sheriffs'. When the moonlight washes over the sleeping state, you can hear their laughter carried by the breeze, blending with the hoots of the night owls and the whispers of the rustling cornstalks. In Iowa, nature is a grand playground, a boundless classroom, and an endless adventure. So, if you're ever in IA and hear the echo of laughter mingling with the rustling leaves, you know the Iowa Nature Navigators, guided by the Corn-Cob Cowboy, are on another daring escapade.

Nestled in 178 acres of lush woodland is a serene escape from the city, a place fondly known as Camp Swamp. This overnight Christian camp, located just two hours east of bustling Atlanta, has been serving as a peaceful retreat since 1992. We like to think of it as our own "little slice of heaven," offering a respite from the daily hustle and bustle, and inviting people to reconnect with nature and their spirituality. Our primary offering is a week-long summer camp, but we've expanded over the years to include more than just summer fun. As part of our mission to support families and churches, we now also host three family camps throughout the year, as well as four parent/child retreats. These events offer a chance for families to bond, parents to connect with their children, and individuals to grow in their faith. Moreover, our facilities are not exclusive to our organized events. Camp Swamp also offers rentals to schools, churches, universities, sports teams, and even business groups. Whether you're planning a camp, a retreat, or a team-building excursion, our serene setting and well-equipped facilities provide the ideal backdrop for an unforgettable experience.

At Camp Albrecht Acres, we’ve been providing a unique camping experience for people with special needs since 1975. We’ve grown from a small operation of tent camping to a 40-acre residential camp that serves more than 600 campers each summer. Campers are able to enjoy time in the pool, create art in our arts and crafts section, explore nature in our Beidler Nature Center, and take part in weekly dances. Each activity is adapted to their individual needs and abilities, so everyone is able to participate. We are grateful for the generous support we receive from our community, who understand the importance of recreational services for our population of people with special needs. We thank you for your support, service, and financial contributions, which make the Camp Albrecht Acres experience possible.
