Now, leading the pack was a quirky little character, named Flip Flapjack. Don't let his funny name fool you! Flip was no pancake enthusiast. Instead, he was a gymnastics ninja, always seen somersaulting his mornings away. He could do cartwheels faster than a spinning top and his splits were so perfect, you'd think he was made of rubber. His favorite spot? The balance beam, of course! He would tiptoe on it as if dancing on a rainbow. Then there was his gang of gymnasts, who were as zany as they were talented. Sally Salto, who could do backflips as if she had springs for legs, Benny Backspring, who could bend backward and touch his toes to his head, and Tilly Tumble, who would perform twirling somersaults that would make your head spin. Together, they were an unstoppable squad that transformed the Florida Gymnastics Club into their playground. Every day was a circus of flips, twists, and laughs. They were the talk of the town, each with their unique style and infectious energy. In the state where the sun is as bright as the kids' smiles, Florida's little gymnasts, led by the fearless Flip Flapjack, showed everyone the true meaning of fun, friendship, and some fantastic gymnastics. In 2015, Don Pitts was awarded the AAU Team Florida Coach of the Year - a testament to his dedication to the sport. Lisa Pitts has been equally involved, having served as the Saint Leo Varsity Cheerleading Coach from 2003-2005. The Pitts' dedication to coaching has yielded impressive results. Together, they have coached 8 members of the USAIGC National Junior Elite Team, 2 members of the USA National TOPS Team, 4 members of the NC Regional AAU Team, 10 AAU National Age Group All Around Champions, 10 FL State Champions, 10 NC State Champions, 21 AAU National Event Champions, 5 AAU Florida All Americans, and 2 YMCA National Champions. Don and Lisa have also been involved in coaching competitive gymnastics from levels 1-9 and competitive Rhythmic Gymnastics levels 5-7.
