These weren’t your regular paintbrush-wielding kids, oh no! These were the CT Art Wizards, and they had the magical power of turning ordinary objects into extraordinary works of art. The leader of these Art Wizards was a cool, quirky character named Doodly Dabster. With sparkling green eyes and hair as orange as a sunset, Doodly was always ready with his magic paintbrush that could create anything he imagined! With a twirl and a swish, he could paint from the colors of the rainbow or even from shades that didn't exist yet. Connecticut, with its vibrant autumn leaves, sparkling snow-covered landscapes, and sunny seaside views, served as the perfect inspiration for these young artists. They turned the stunning state parks into detailed landscape paintings, the historic buildings into charming watercolor illustrations, and the colorful birds into goofy caricatures that always brought out a chuckle. Just like the state itself, which beautifully blends the traditional with the modern, these kids could create a fusion of art styles in a snap. Nestled in 178 acres of lush woodland is a serene escape from the city, a place fondly known as Camp Swamp. This overnight Christian camp, located just two hours east of bustling Atlanta, has been serving as a peaceful retreat since 1992. We like to think of it as our own "little slice of heaven," offering a respite from the daily hustle and bustle, and inviting people to reconnect with nature and their spirituality. Our primary offering is a week-long summer camp, but we've expanded over the years to include more than just summer fun. As part of our mission to support families and churches, we now also host three family camps throughout the year, as well as four parent/child retreats. These events offer a chance for families to bond, parents to connect with their children, and individuals to grow in their faith. Moreover, our facilities are not exclusive to our organized events. Each class is designed to provide the students with 1 ½ to 2 hours of instruction in a small class size setting. This allows time for discussions about art history, aesthetics, and art criticism in addition to the studio work. The BAY offers a unique art education experience. For over 15 years, this private art studio has been providing quality art instruction in southeastern Connecticut, teaching young people the fundamentals of art and encouraging creative expression. The classes are 1 ½ to 2 hours long and the small class sizes foster time for discussions about art history, aesthetics, and art criticism in addition to studio work. Drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpting are all offered at The BAY, giving students the opportunity to explore a variety of art forms. In 2003, The BAY opened its doors with the mission of providing quality art education to emerging artists in southeastern Connecticut. Since then, it has been offering weekly art classes to elementary, middle school, high school, and home school students.
