Our mission for summer 2022 is to help children unplug from technology and get outside. We offer a unique combination of hands-on learning and outdoor adventure. At our camp, campers will explore the local shoreline, examine marine life, and learn about the environment. Our camp physician and staff are dedicated to providing a safe and healthy environment for our campers. Additionally, we work closely with the camp community and the state of CT to ensure that all safety protocols are followed.
Project Oceanology is excited to provide a summer camp experience for kids to explore the outdoors and get away from their devices. We know that spending time outdoors is essential for children's physical and mental health. With the right precautions and safety protocols in place, children can enjoy all the benefits of outdoor play in a safe and secure environment this summer.

ON THE SHORE
Discover Long Island Sound's beautiful and diverse shoreline with one of our inquiry-based science programs. The area around Project Oceanology boasts a rich diversity of habitats and organisms. Meet our educators at a local beach such as Bluff Point State Park in Groton, or meet at Project Oceanology (Avery Point) and either work at our beach or travel by skiff (additional skiff fee applies) to Pine Island. Meet the organisms, map out the habitats, and get your hands and feet wet as you explore the local ecology. See links below for recommended shore trips broken out by grade level.

ON THE BOAT
Board one of our large research vessels and head out to sea for an unforgettable marine science experience! Catch fish and plankton, participate in a seal or seagull population study, pull up a mud grab, use oceanographic equipment to measure water quality, and more! Each trip includes two highly trained Project Oceanology instructors who will teach your students how to use our sampling gear, facilitate data collection, help students make sense of what they are finding, and teach a lesson on the topic of your choice. Visiting teachers may work with our marine educators to tailor a float plan, or select from one of our standard trips. See links below for recommended boat trips broken out by grade level.
