Once a farm for the Schlitz Brewery draft horses, this comprehensive nature center now offers six miles of trails that take visitors through 185 acres of forests, wetlands, restored prairies, ravines, bluffs, and Lake Michigan shoreline. Visitors of all ages can take part in a variety of educational programs, from toddlers to senior citizens. Plus, the nature center's Gold LEED certified Educational Center provides a sustainable and energy-efficient experience. Enjoy spectacular views of Lake Michigan from the 60-foot observation tower, and take advantage of the trails for hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. Nature Preschool
Nature has always been our classroom. We have been teaching outdoors since our preschool was founded in 2003. We now divide our days between our four outdoor classrooms and the beautiful surrounding nature trails. During a year at Nature Preschool, a child might watch a monarch butterfly begin its migration to Mexico, catch a frog at Mystery Lake, and learn to tap a maple tree. Our preschoolers learn by doing – they climb on logs, search for insects, dig for worms, hike the trails, splash in puddles, play in the snow and get to know the Center’s resident reptiles, amphibians, and Raptors. As a Nature Preschool, we spend the majority of our class time outside exploring throughout all of the seasons. With proper seasonal attire, our students learn to embrace the rain, snow, and sunshine alike, as well as any other weather Wisconsin has to offer. Students begin to develop a sense of place and an understanding of the natural world that surrounds us all.

Our environmental education programming is infused with adventure and creativity to foster a deeper understanding of the natural world. Our dedicated staff of naturalists have created these unique experiential learning programs, designed to correlate to the Wisconsin Department of Instruction Standards for Science.

Adult Education
At Schlitz Audubon, we’re committed to providing environmental education for nature lovers of every age – and that includes adults! Topics include birding, native trees and plants, regional ecology, conservation, and many others. They range from hour-long programs to season-long courses.
