About Badger Gymnastics Academy
Badger Gymnastics Academy has been a fixture in Madison, Wisconsin since 1976. Founded by Joel Alberti, the gym was originally run by his daughter, Jessie Carlson. Jessie took her father’s love of gymnastics and turned it into an incredible program. Since then, the gym has grown to include two full-sized gyms, an observation room, a pro-shop, and a competitive team sanctioned by USA Gymnastics.
Jessie’s father, Joel Alberti, was the original Program Director of Badger Gymnastics Academy, and was instrumental in bringing the popular youth gymnastics classes to BGA. He developed the curriculum for the classes that have evolved into the “Tumbleweeds” program today. The current competitive team coach, Tom Nikl, has been with BGA since its founding. Together, Jessie and Tom have created a positive and welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy. Badger Gymnastics Academy has been providing quality instruction to people of all ages and abilities since 1976.

Tots and Tumbleweeds: Ages 1-5
Our Tots program can best be described as “Physical Sesame Street.” Instructors set out to work both gross and fine motor skills as well as balance, flexibility, body awareness, and hand/eye coordination. Parent participation in this class makes it a comfortable first step for your toddler.
Girls Skills Class: Ages 6+
This program, offered to girls ages six and older, is designed to allow orderly progression from beginning to advanced skills by learning and mastering fundamental progressions. We will track your child’s progress to ensure that they are being challenged appropriately. We believe that each child has something to gain by participating in our skills program.
Senior High School Workshop: Ages 14 to 18
The Senior High Workshop is for girls 14-18 years of age and is designed for gymnasts who participate with their high school gymnastics team. This class is offered in the “off-season” (Fall, Spring and Summer) for athletes to improve their skill, their strength, and their endurance to become better high school athletes. Our coaches will use proper progressions and techniques to endure the safety of our athletes. They will also have an understanding of the high school rules and requirements to help gymnasts build season-ready routines. It is our goal to physically and mentally train gymnasts to feel prepared as they enter their high school gymnastics season. Gymnasts who are enrolled in more than one day will receive a second day discount.
