Austin Sunshine Camps has been offering enjoyable, overnight summer camp programs to children in the greater Austin area, completely free of cost since 1928. We continue this tradition by offering free programs to not only returning campers but also new campers who either meet the eligibility for free or reduced school meals or are part of the foster care system. We believe in providing an enriching summer experience without any financial burdens.

Zilker Park Camp

Our Zilker Park camp is located inside Zilker Park near Barton Springs Pool; it serves campers ages 8 – 11. Campers 10-11 years old attend for ten days and nine nights. Campers who are 8 years old attend sessions that are seven days and six nights. Campers who are 9 years old can choose either the ten-day or seven-day option. The camp program offers activities such as swimming in Barton Springs, canoeing to Lady Bird Lake, arts and crafts, Carnival Night, nature study, hikes, games, and a challenge course with a variety of low ropes elements.

Lake Travis Camp

Our Lake Travis camp is located on Lake Travis between Lago Vista and Marble Falls; it serves campers 12 – 15 years of age for ten days and nine nights. The camp program offers activities such as hiking & outdoor adventure in Turkey Bend Recreation Area, team contests, arts & crafts, sports & games, and a challenge course with a variety of low ropes and high ropes elements, including a rock wall and zip line.

Counselor-in-Training Program

Started in 2018, this is an application-based program for high school students, ages 16 and older, and consists of paid employment for at least two sessions of summer camp (4 weeks). The goal of this program is to create a path for former campers to become summer staff when they turn 18, and to continue to cultivate the relationship built throughout their years at camp.
