South Carolina, known for its smiling faces, beautiful places, and, of course, the famous peaches, was also home to these marathon mavericks. Meet our cool, imaginary friend, Peachy the Pegasus. Yes, you heard it right, a Pegasus in South Carolina! Peachy was a peculiar creature with wings as swift as the southern winds and hooves faster than a speeding comet. He loved to run! He would zip from the misty Blue Ridge Mountains to the sunny, sandy beaches of Myrtle Beach within the blink of an eye! He was the fastest creature in all of South Carolina and inspired all the kids to run marathons. These kids were unlike ordinary children. They had an insatiable appetite for adventure, a thirst for speed, and a hearty laugh that could be heard from Charleston to Greenville. From the break of dawn, they would lace up their sneakers, put on their peachy sun hats, and embark on fun-filled marathons! Now, you must be wondering, why marathons? Well, they believed marathons were not just about running; they were adventures on foot! These marathons took them through the breathtaking landscapes of South Carolina, from the historic plantations to the shimmering lakes and the magnificent state parks. The kids were always excited to run, not just to win, but to enjoy the fun-filled journey, to laugh, to fall, to rise, and most importantly, to be like their imaginary friend, the swift and adventurous, Peachy the Pegasus!

For over 50 years, Frontier Camp has been dedicated to making disciples of Jesus by sharing God’s Word amidst the beauty of His creation. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and are proudly accredited by the American Camping Association. We’re also a member of the Christian Camping and Conference Association. Our mission is to use Christian camping and outdoor recreation as a means to support local churches in fulfilling the Great Commission—evangelizing people of all ages and discipling believers toward deeper maturity in Christ. Frontier Camp offers a dual ministry: during the summer, we host a 10-week youth camp, and throughout the rest of the year, we serve as a retreat facility for churches and like-minded religious organizations. Whether through summer camps or retreats, our goal remains the same: to expose people to Christ and encourage their spiritual growth through His Word and by reflecting His character in everything we do. While we provide top-notch recreation and exciting programming, the heart of our camp is the spiritual impact, rooted in the truth of God’s inerrant Word.
