About Foothills Fencing Academy

Foothills Fencing Academy has always put its members first. Through training, refereeing and coaching we have built a strong community of fencers, where we strive for success and also have lots of fun. Our members have achieved a wide range of accomplishments, from NCAA fencers to junior Olympians and regional champions. Not only do we offer some of the most competitive membership fees in the Southeast, but we also do not pressure our recreational fencers into competing so that we can charge them more. At Foothills Fencing Academy, students of any age or experience level can find the perfect environment to explore the sport. Our coaches are all certified by USA Fencing and have undergone extensive background checks. We also employ FOC-rated referees and a skilled armorer to provide the best fencing experience possible. Furthermore, our members have been involved in promoting the sport of fencing since 2008. We continue to strive and grow as a community, all for the love of the sport.

Fencing 101
If you’ve always wanted to learn how to fence and never had the chance, then this class is for you! In this four-week beginner course, individuals will learn the basics skills needed to become a fencer. Skills such as proper footwork, blade work, distance control, fencing etiquette, rules, and sportsmanship will all be covered in depth. Learning these skills will get the participant ready to fence “Olympic style” bouting, and ready to move on to the next level! From here, fencers can move to Fencing 102 the following month if they choose to do so! Ages 7-12 meet Mondays from 6:00-7:00 pm while ages 13+ meet from 7:00-8:00 pm.

Beginner Homeschool Fencing Program
Homeschool classes have been specifically scheduled earlier in the day to fit with a student’s homeschool schedule. This 9 week program runs from 1:00-2:00 pm on Thursday afternoons for our youth students (ages 7-11) while our senior students will have their own class from 2:00-3:00 pm (ages 12-18). Students will learn proper fencing footwork, foil blade work, rules, fencing etiquette…and have lots of fun!
