Countryside Children's Center

Children ages six-weeks through 18 months are enrolled in our Infant program. Caregivers provide a nurturing and stimulating environment for infants to learn through active exploration and interaction with adults and other babies. The caregiver-to-child ratio is 1:4. Caregivers create individual lesson plans each month that are tailor-made for each child to help them reach their developmental milestones. Lesson plans are based on the Rhode Island Early Learning and Developmental Standards and help us to ensure each child is reaching their maximum potential at their own pace.

In our Preschool and Pre-K programs, three, four, and five-year-olds continue to refine their skills as they prepare for Kindergarten with a focus on learning through intentional play. The teachers guide and facilitate activities that encompass art, math, science, language arts, music, and movement. The Teacher to child ratio is 1:9 for classrooms with three-year-olds and 1:10 for classrooms where all children are at least four years old. Our Preschool/Pre-K program helps children gain all the necessary tools to enter into elementary education ready to succeed in all areas. Group lesson plans are designed weekly and aim to assist each child in building readiness skills in areas including social-emotional, literacy, math, science, and cognitive development. Lesson plans are based on the RI Early Learning Developmental Standards.

The diverse developmental needs of two-year-olds are met in the Toddler program. The children are involved in a variety of stimulating experiences to encourage socialization and independence. Their day is comprised of circle time, art projects, music and movement, and play center time. The teacher-to-child ratio is 1:6. Our Toddler program teachers work with children to improve upon language and socialization skills in addition to gaining an early grasp of important concepts related to the world around them. Group lesson plans are designed weekly and tailored to each group as they move through the program. Lesson plans are based on the RI Early Learning Developmental Standards.
