About Straub Dance Center

Straub Dance Center has a proud and distinguished heritage as one of Central Ohio’s and the nation’s oldest, largest and most reputable dance studios. We are dedicated to providing a fun, safe environment for students of all ages, and strive to build self-confidence in every student. Our students take classes for enjoyment, exercise, poise, confidence and team spirit. While we have been recognized locally, state-wide and nationally for our Performing Arts Company, we strongly adhere to our core purpose and mission: to help every student realize their full potential and enhance their lives through dance. What we believe separates our dance studio from others is our love for teaching. We emphasize proper dance technique in a warm, friendly environment where all students are encouraged to reach their full potential and, most importantly, develop confidence and skills that will help them succeed in life.

Baby Dance
For two year olds, Baby Dance offers a very warm introduction to dance. Baby dancers will be introduced to the very basic dance steps and techniques (such as, learning to point their toes, galloping across the floor and more). Baby dance instructors use many classroom props to engage students in each 30-minute class.

Pre-Dance
For three year olds, Pre-Dance offers dancers a very imaginative approach to dance. Pre-Dancers use many classroom props, including magical wands, silly bean bags and maracas to encourage creativity, balance, rhythm and more. Pre-dancers will also use the mats to learn the very basics of tumbling. By the end of each 30-minute class, your pre-dancer will be full of wonder for what the next class may bring!

Creative I and II
Creative I and II offers four, five, and six-year-old dancers their first experience with ballet. Dancers will learn basic dance steps including plies, tondues, proper arm placement, jumping jacks, and more. Creative dancers will also use the mats to learn the very basics of tumbling. Each 30-minute class is always concluded with a fun dance activity.
