About Center for Modern Dance

The Center for Modern Dance Education is a community arts organization that seeks to break down barriers to modern dance and make it available to all. From individuals with disabilities to youth at risk and older adults, CMDE provides a safe, noncompetitive environment for anyone to explore the art of modern dance. CMDE also serves as a valuable resource for the professional dance community, helping to ensure the legacy of modern dance is preserved.

AGES 8 – ADULT Afro-Modern Dance Company is CMDE’s new youth company. This high-energy performance group is open to Teen and Young adult dancers with some dance or drumming experience and a strong desire to learn African dance and perform.
