Camp Mowglis

Camp Mowglis Cub Program for boys age 7-9 is the perfect way to introduce your young son to overnight summer camp. We understand that our youngest campers are often nervous about being away from mom and dad, so we’ve specially designed this program with young, inexperienced campers in mind. With a shorter session length, higher counselor-to-camper ratio, and flexible schedule, your son is sure to enjoy an amazing first summer camp experience. Our shorter, 3-week boys overnight camp program offers an ideal solution to ease your son into the sleepaway camp experience. Friendly, familiar faces fill every day, alongside fun, exciting activities. Each day, Mowglis’ Cub program follows the same camping activities schedule as The Pack. However, younger campers enjoy the flexibility to take part in more age-appropriate adventures: The Cubland dorm features a jungle gym, tetherball, and a playing field. Nearby Kipling Hall holds a library filled with children’s books, a piano, and a fireplace – the perfect spot for rainy day fun.

Members of the Mowglis Pack are boys from ages 10-15 years old. Members of the Pack grow and learn together during their years at camp. The Pack follows a familiar routine known as “the Regular Mowglis day”. The campers wake up each day in their dormitories to the sound of the bugle. From that moment on, one activity follows another. Clocks become irrelevant as boys become immersed in the Mowglis experience. In the Pack the boys live in dorms with other boys their own age and their counselors. Named after characters in the Jungle Book, our dorms are called Toomai, Baloo, Akela, Panther, and Den. They are well maintained, screened, open-air buildings which allow the boys a camping experience, even when they are snuggled in their bunks.

The Yearling program is a three week leadership development experience which is designed for Mowglis graduates, as well as boys 15 years of age, who are looking for an adventure leadership program. Mowglis is a place for boys to transition into men and the Yearling program builds on the skills boys learn as campers and applies those skills in the real world. Applicants should have an interest in fun, fast-pasted and challenging outdoor activities, as well as a desire to understand the natural world around them. Yearlings is an outward bound program and participants will spend much of their time outside the Mowglis campgrounds. This is a growth opportunity for graduates before being invited back as Junior Staff. Activities include, but aren’t limited to the following: - A backpacking section teaching trip planning, leadership, and team building. - Helping plan and lead hiking/camping trips for younger campers. - Community service projects including: trail clearing, helping at the Hebron fair, chopping and splitting wood to donate to local elderly. - A 2-day Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and CPR class instructed by Solo Wilderness Medicine. - A 4-day whitewater kayaking class taught by Zoar Outdoors at Zoar Gap on the Deerfield River.
