About Camp Tevya

Welcome to Camp Tevya, a spirited Jewish overnight camp! Our mission is to enrich children's lives with FUN, forever-friendships and confidence, through caring, positive role models, and Jewish values. Situated on the shores of Lake Potanipo in southern New Hampshire, Tevya offers a classic New England summer, full of energy, sports and activities from waterskiing to tennis to soccer to talent shows. Our counselors encourage our campers to take chances, to try new things, and to experience the satisfaction of accomplishment every day. Campers discover the joy of a large, lively community that lives deeply connected to Israel and our shared Jewish heritage and values. Founded in 1940, Tevya welcomes campers from throughout the Northeast, including both new friends and many children of alumni. Camp Tevya is one of three overnight camps in the Cohen Camps family: its siblings are the smaller, nut-free Tel Noar and the all-girls Pembroke. Each Cohen Camp shines with its own personality, while connected by a common vision and three generations of leadership. As part of the Cohen Camps, our mission is to enrich children’s lives by encouraging Jewish youth to be comfortable and confident in themselves so that they can connect positively with others and the world they live in. They are a community of positive role models who help the youth explore their Jewish identity and experience the joy of their Jewish heritage. The campers and counselors leave camp determined to sustain Judaism and the Jewish People and are committed to contributing responsibly to their world.

Dor L’Dor Israel Experience

At The Cohen Camps, we strongly believe that direct experience of Israel — the opportunity to create a personal relationship with the people, land and heritage of Israel — is integral to the way each person develops their Jewish identity, values and character. After all, supporting the founding of the State of Israel is part of our founding vision. We begin to help our campers cultivate this connection with Israel from the moment they arrive at camp.

Kadima Teen Leadership Program

This year only, Kadima includes a 3-week trip to Israel followed by a CIT Internship at each camp. Teens may take part in one or both portions of the Kadima experience. The journey to Israel offers a life changing, immersive travel experience by teaching about Jewish heritage, identity, the land and the people of Israel through a leadership lens. Once again, we are partnering with Keshet: The Center for Educational Tourism in Israel to plan our tour safely and professionally. The CIT Internship leadership program at camp will immerse the teens in camp life, with hands-on skills, and with direct parallels to leadership outside of camp that will help them understand how to be counselors and leaders with more knowledge, practice, confidence, and support. Teens will earn a stipend and have appropriate privileges within the CIT Intern role.

Summer Camp

Each summer, we celebrate fun, self-confidence and friendships, our daily life infused with Jewish values. Our committed staff helps our campers develop strong character and gain life skills as they grow spiritually, socially and physically. Your child will enjoy favorite activities and try new ones, including swimming, waterskiing, sailing, tennis, archery, soccer, theatre production, videography, Jam Band, duct tape art and so much more. There is truly something for everyone on the shores of Lake Potanipo.
