WB Surf Camp

Our Guppy Ocean Adventure Camp takes place on Wrightsville, Kure, and Topsail beaches and is designed for children ages 6 to 10. During this week-long Wilmington summer camp, kids learn about ocean safety and multiple components of our amazing coastal environment. We know that a child’s first experiences with the ocean will shape their attitude towards it for the rest of their lives. In our “learn-by-doing” Guppy Camps, kids will learn how waves are formed, when and where it is safest to enter the ocean, warning signs of ocean/weather dangers, how to stay safe while at the beach, and many other facets of cool marine life education.

Grom Ocean Academy is a full day, week long summer camp experience intended to build on the lessons covered in Guppy Camp. This ocean adventure is designed for kids ages 8 – 11 who are interested in the ocean and all its inhabitants. Together we’ll travel around Wilmington following the coast from Fort Fisher to Surf City, soaking up the waves and habitats along the way. This program is ideal for the budding surfer or marine biologist. Each day we’ll log time in the water either surfing or working on advanced boogie boarding skills. In addition to water instruction, we’ll also transition to other local habitats near the dunes, along the marsh, and in the tide pools for an in-depth study of the animals that reside there.

Our kids surf camp for ages 7-10 is located in the warm-water beach town of Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, where campers will learn to surf or improve their skills while taking advantage of warm, emerald green waters and white sandy beaches, and enjoy a week of fun in the sun. During our program, kids will be well on their way to building confidence in the fundamentals of surfing. All kids surf camps have an in water student to instructor ratio of 2:1, and are staffed with our professional instructors. Our team consists of trained educators with combined teaching in the thousands of hours on all levels and to all types of students. With our proven teaching system, we instill confidence every step of the way. During our kid’s summer camps, your child will be in shallow water and receive personalized attention. Our energetic staff reinforces the buddy system while slowly pushing your child’s limits. Some children start off understandably timid, but soon enough it’s hard to get them out of the water. With so many instructors and surf buddies having a blast, confidence builds while bringing you peace of mind.
