From educational and recreational activities, to leadership and team building skills, the Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Educational Center offers something for everyone.
Programs
The classes, camps and experiences this business offers.
OVERNIGHT SUMMER CAMP
Beginning with a ‘welcome to camp’ opening ceremony on Sunday and concluding with an awards ceremony on Friday, our six-day sleepaway summer camp program sends campers home with memories and friendships that will last a lifetime!
Campers are placed into co-ed activity groups according to age and request. Activity groups stay together throughout the day participating in various activities together and sharing meal times. We provide all campers specialized equipment needed to camp out, canoe, climb, explore the beautiful ecosystem, negotiate the ropes course, and ride horseback. We are ACA accredited so we adhere to the highest standards for safety, operations, and program quality.
DAY CAMP
All North Carolina youth between the ages of 6-14 are welcome at BJP’s day camp sessions, but keep in mind that daily commutes are necessary.
Day campers enjoy most of the same activities as their overnight camp counterparts. Rotating from activity to activity, Day Campers swim, ride horses, canoe and explore the natural surroundings of BJP’s beautiful campus. They also participate in Day Camp specialized programming, such as Our Town, a game where campers create their own entrepreneurial community. Older campers participate in team challenges and high ropes elements.
ADVENTURE PROGRAM
This special program for older campers focuses on developing outdoor living skills and includes a two-night on-site camp out on Tuesday and Wednesday night.
In addition to regular residential camping activities, Adventure campers learn fire building, orienteering, outdoor cooking, tent set-up and have the opportunity to go down the zip-line at high ropes.
