In 1988, Hank and Nancy Beebe began the Schoolhouse Arts Center at Sebago Lake, with a mission of producing community plays and providing arts education to the area. Over the years, the organization has grown to include a board of directors and the acquisition of the historic Standish High School building in 1994. Today, the Schoolhouse Arts Center provides an inviting atmosphere for all ages to develop their artistic and creative skills. The Schoolhouse Arts Center offers a variety of classes for everyone from preschoolers to adults, including theater, music, art, and dance. The goal of the center is to help build confidence and foster creativity by providing a supportive and inspiring environment for the community. Through its many programs and activities, the Schoolhouse Arts Center has become a thriving arts center in the Sebago Lake area, providing an opportunity for everyone to explore and experience the arts.
