About Joy of Music Program

This unique program provides children with the opportunity to explore and create music in a safe and welcoming environment. The Joy of Music Program is a non-profit community music school that offers a joyful and solid foundation for music education and growth for children of all ages and incomes. With teachers and students who are united by their shared passion for music, JOMP provides a safe and welcoming space for musical exploration and creativity. Children can learn and grow musically in this unique program, giving them an invaluable life-long skill.

Private Instrumental & Voice Lessons

Private lessons at Joy of Music connect students with excellent teachers, who are dedicated to passing along their love for music and their instrument. The one-on-one teacher/student relationship allows our faculty members to adapt to each student’s individual learning style and goals.

Children's Chorus

Children’s Chorus is an unauditioned singing community where members discover and develop their own unique talents, support each others’ gifts and work together to create something beautiful. Children experience the camaraderie and fun of singing songs from around the world. Some songs include learning American Sign Language or a folk dance. Chorus members learn and refine vocal techniques, paying special attention to breathing, blending with other voices and exploring the elements of music (rhythm, melody, harmony, pitch, dynamics and timbre).

Vocal Performance Class

Do you ever get nervous before a performance or feel frustrated that all your hard work in voice lessons isn’t translating to the stage? Take your performance to the next level with this 90-minute workshop! Topics covered will include song preparation, text interpretation, character development/stage presence, memorization techniques, performance etiquette, and more. Participants should come prepared with one fully memorized song in any style to perform in front of the group. Sarah will provide feedback, encouragement, and tips to each performer. Bring sheet music for the accompanist in the correct key. Dress in comfortable clothes you can move in.
