About City of Worcester Head Start

Worcester's Head Start program is devoted to helping children succeed in a rapidly changing world. We recognize that parents are their children's first teachers, and we strive to build a strong relationship with families to ensure the best support for their children. Our goal is to help children develop strong self-esteem and personal growth, while also preparing them for school. We take an individual approach to every child and provide special needs services as needed. At Worcester's Head Start, we understand the importance of community and work to build relationships with families, schools, and other organizations to promote healthy development. We will do our best to provide the resources necessary to ensure that your child is ready to learn when they enter school. We value your role as a parent and are excited to work with you and your child to create a successful future. Our mission is to provide a quality preschool program that equips children with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in today's competitive world. We are here to provide the best support possible and ensure that every child is given the chance to reach their full potential.

Preschool & Kindergarten
Our preschool and kindergarten inclusive learning environments offer all children a safe, nurturing, and creative place to share ideas, and thoughts and question the world around them. A place where children can make connections, play and build relationships at a pace that is right for them. The children are viewed as capable, intelligent, and creative and the teacher’s role is to support and challenge them to help them reach their full potential.

Worcester Public Schools After School Band and Orchestra Program
The Burncoat UNITES program conceived and directed by students provides students with youth development opportunities and ensemble opportunities that may not be available at their home school. We are free to any WPS instrumental student in grades 4-12.

Visual Arts
Our program offers a full K 12 curriculum in the Visual Arts including a Visual Art Magnet Program in the Burncoat quadrant. We enrich classroom experiences with meaningful community partnerships, yearly Aar festivals, and other events.
