About Charles River Canoe & Kayak

At Charles River Recreation, we understand the importance of providing accessible and affordable outdoor recreational opportunities in the Boston, Massachusetts metropolitan area. We are committed to ensuring our programs and services are available to all, and that people of all ages and backgrounds have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. Our many offerings include Charles River Canoe & Kayak, a shop offering canoe, kayak and paddleboard sales, classes, guided trips, and multiple rental locations. We also offer Weston Ski Track located at the Leo J. Martin Golf Course in Weston. Here, families can enjoy cross-country skiing and instruction on groomed, lighted trails. Finally, Kendall Square Community Ice Skating, a refrigerated, Zamboni-maintained ice skating rink in Kendall Square, Cambridge, provides fun for all ages! At Charles River Recreation, we are dedicated to providing a wide range of outdoor recreational activities that are accessible and affordable to everyone in the Boston area. With our canoe, kayak and paddleboard sales and rental services, cross-country skiing and instruction, and refrigerated ice skating rink, we strive to make outdoor recreation available to everyone in our community.

Kids' Paddleboard Class
Kids love stand-up paddleboarding! It’s easy to learn to paddleboard while playing games, splashing in the water, and having lots of fun. All our classes emphasize safety on the water. We begin with an on-land introduction to equipment and basic paddle strokes. After that, we get on the boards to develop our skills while getting kids hooked on paddling.

Kids' Kayak Class
From our selection of double kayaks, perfect for use with children, to our single kayaks specifically designed for kids, we have boats to allow the whole family to get out on the water. We also offer PFDs for all ages (infant to adult), kids paddles, paddling clothing from Kokatat, and wetsuits for kids so they can stay safe in cold water.

Birthday Parties
Charles River Canoe & Kayak will create a customized birthday party for your child and friends. We can provide rentals of canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards, plus instruction, guiding, and catering to suit your tastes. We even have water cannons and ten-person canoes!
