About Tri Town Council On Youth

At TTC, we've been providing innovative services to youth and families since 1968. Our programs started as a response to drug and alcohol abuse, but our service delivery model has evolved over time to meet the changing needs of the community. Our mission is to ensure that young people have the guidance, support and resources they need to thrive and make healthy decisions. We do this by providing parent education, youth programs, professional development, prevention services, and after-school enrichment. We take a holistic approach, focusing on social and emotional wellbeing and helping to build the Assets that all youth need. This includes teaching self-esteem, resilience, and responsibility, and helping to empower young people to make healthy choices. We work with thousands of youth, parents, educators and vested community members to ensure our youth have the best possible chance for success.

Home Alone Safety(Gr.3-6)

Home Alone Safety is a readiness program that helps prepare your child to safely be home alone before and after school, and learn to take care of themselves. Basic safety rules are taught that help build self-confidence, sense of responsibility and decision-making abilities through a variety of fun, interactive activities and discussions, including role-playing. Pamphlets and handouts will be provided. Materials will be included for parents and guardians to create safe environments and family emergency action plans.

Writing Wizards!(Gr.4-6)

Let Your Imagination Run Wild! Do you like stories about mythical creatures, magicians, and wizards? Or maybe you dream about going on an alien space adventure! Mermaids? Time travel? As the author, it will all be up to you, as you give life to a fantasy world of your own design. Mold your protagonist and give them some villainous bad guys to outsmart, design a breathtakingly beautiful setting or a dystopian underworld. Dream up some dizzy adventures. Our Right Brain Curriculum teachers will help you with the nuts & bolts: Giving your story a gripping conflict, “Stretching out” a scene, bringing your dialogue to life, sequencing events, and choosing those ultra-impressive synonyms. Top it all off with a dedication, “About the Author” page, illustrations, and a gorgeous cover as you become a published creative writer!

Chess(Gr.3-6)

This chess class is for beginners to intermediate players and will focus on fun and learning. Learn about piece movements, tactics and strategies. Instructor Prathiba Gounder,
