About New England Martial Arts Dojo

At New England Martial Arts Dojo, we offer traditional Shotokan Karate-Do classes throughout the week and weekend. We also host an Aiki-Jutsu school and the Rhode Island Budo Academy. We welcome visitors to join us during any class to learn about the mind, body, and spirit connection that martial arts emphasizes. Our aim is to provide quality martial arts instruction to all students who come to train with us. We strive to maintain a safe and friendly atmosphere, where individual growth is rewarded and competition is not the focus. We look forward to having you join us at New England Martial Arts Dojo. Here you can learn about the principles of martial arts and develop your human character and potential. Our instructors are dedicated to helping you reach your goals and we are confident that you will leave our dojo with the knowledge and skills to become a better martial artist.

Shotokan Karate
(all ages) Shotokan (Show-toe-kahn) means: “House of the wavy pines.” Karate-Do (Kara-tay-doe) means: “Way of the empty hand.” Put them together and you have “House of the wavy pines, Way of the empty hand.”
