About Michelle’s Dance Carousel

Dance Carousel began over 27 years ago in a single studio space on Front Street. Since then, it has grown to be one of the most successful and respected studios on the South Shore. Not only has Dance Carousel been a home for dancers, but it has also seen thousands of young people develop into performers and individuals, in a creative and tried-and-true curriculum. The Dance Carousel program is designed to create well-rounded, respected, and competitive dancers, in spite of the ever-changing dance world. The instructors understand the importance of having fun while learning, and try to emphasize the values of loyalty, hard work, self-discipline, and passion, which are all part of the performing arts. Dance Carousel has been an integral part of the South Shore performing arts scene for 27 years and continues to hold the same values that have made it a success. With a focus on creating strong dancers and strong individuals, they have been honored to witness thousands of young people reach their potential and grow as performers and as individuals.

Programs

PRE-K 1

Classes introduce the basics of TAP and BALLET and include age-specific creative movement, basic tumbling, as well as social and cognitive development games.

GRADES 1-2

Students continue to learn more challenging TAP and BALLET material and are introduced to the JAZZ style. Social and expressive development is emphasized in classwork. All students participate in all material.

BALLET & JAZZ

Each class begins with BALLET barre and center work to strengthen proper technique and body alignment, and ends with classic JAZZ warm up and stretch, across the floor progressions and combinations. Students come to understand the importance of BALLET as the foundation for all dance forms and how meticulous BALLET training leads to more stylized personal expression through JAZZ. Both BALLET and JAZZ terminology is taught.
