PRESCHOOL DANCE LEVEL I

The Preschool class is for children who are taking dance for the first time. It is a combination of ballet, tap, and jazz. This class teaches rhythm, body position, and counting while helping the child develop an interest in dance!

HIP HOP

Level one Hip Hop students will learn the fundamentals of many different styles of urban dance. They also learn the basics of formations, understand the importance of freestyle, and how to have confidence in their style. A fun class for any looking to find their own groove. Level two Hip Hop students will begin to learn textures, musicality beyond counting, and basic waving and popping. Every month’s lessons will be based on a different style of urban dance (street, commercial, funk, etc.) They will explore their individual styles, and gain confidence in their freestyle moves. This class is mandatory for anyone looking to join the Open Space Hip Hop Team.

MUSICAL THEATRE

Musical Theatre class will focus on learning proper dance techniques while exploring the various dance styles used in Broadway shows. ... Emphasis will also be placed on learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and telling a story through dance and facial expressions.

ACRO LEVEL I

This program is a specially designed introductory class. Our beginners will receive the proper fundamentals in their first session, which will set them up for a safe and successful future in the art of AcroDance, enhancing student's motor skills and kinesthetic awareness. As they progress through this program, students will come to learn tricks such as: headstands, handstands, cartwheels, bridges and introductory partner work.

BALLET

Formal ballet training begins in Pre-Ballet where the foundation of classical ballet technique is delivered. Students will learn basic terminology, and barre exercises and begin center work. In Intermediate Ballet, students continue to refine their work and complete the ballet vocabulary. The intensive advanced Teen Ballet, which some students may attain, brings strength, speed, more complex combinations of steps, and the development of artistry. A short introduction to dance history is included. ​
