Each classroom also incorporates educational areas for Montessori lessons. Our Montessori Materials are broken down into different categories such as Practical Life (fine motor development), Language, Math, Culture & Science, Sensorial (blocks and geometrics), and Geography. These areas are filled with materials that the children enjoy exploring each day. This is where the children are able to make independent choices of what their mind desires to do. The freedom of choice is a vital factor in the Montessori system. Each classroom is created for the child. We have literacy rich environments where students are given the opportunity to work with letter journals, circle times, projects, individual lessons, whole group activity and of course recess! Gross motor time is a part of our daily curriculum. We thoroughly enjoy being outside on our playground running, climbing and playing with friends. Social emotional growth might be the most important part of preschool. We focus on these skills all year. Outside each classroom our teachers post newsletters, weekly curriculum grids and class schedules. These communication boards are helpful with keeping parents and teachers connected.
