About Calvin Chin's Martial Arts Academy

At Grand Master Calvin Chin's Martial Arts Academy, we've been training people in the martial arts for more than two decades, giving them the opportunity to build their skills and confidence. Our experienced Grand Master, Calvin Chin, brings nearly 60 years of teaching experience to the studio, and his modern methods make learning Kung Fu and Tai Chi accessible and fun. With a commitment to excellence, we work to encourage students to strive for greatness in all aspects of their lives.

Traditional Kung Fu

Kung fu is an aerobic form of exercise that first involves learning from sequences and evolves into a discipline of body and mind as theory becomes an integral part of training. Sequences from the Hung Gar system, one of the original Shaolin systems include empty hand, application, and weapon forms.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is a fluid sequence of movements choreographed in a low-impact routine. The practice of tai chi focuses on the mind/body connection. This state of active meditation provides tranquility and is achieved when movements are coordinated with mental awareness.

Traditional Wu Style Tai Chi

The traditional Wu Chien-Chuan long sequence taught in this program focuses on smaller circular movements and fluid transitions. The Wu style abides by the principles of martial arts and a prerequisite for Tai Chi Push Hands, Tai Chi Theory and Refinement, and Tai Chi Weapon.
