Swimming Lesson
The Y offers a wide range of swimming options for the whole family including traditional learn to swim classes starting with infants right through to adults; specialty programs for diverse abilities; water sports & games; private & semi-private swim lessons; swim team; Master’s style swim conditioning; aquatic exercise classes; open swim & lap swim times.
The Y Aquatic programs are positive, fun, healthy activities that build athletic, social, and interpersonal skills. Swimming builds self-confidence and develops the whole person – spirit, mind, and body. Instructional swim classes are divided into ability groups where our trained instructors emphasize personal safety, swimming skills, endurance, and social skills while guiding students with praise and encouragement
EARLY EDUCATION & CARE
Following state and local safety guidelines, Ys across the country offer quality full-day and partial-day early learning opportunities and child care for infants through preschoolers, enabling parents and family members to go to work knowing their children are in safe, stimulating environments. Programming consists of daily activities that offer opportunities for each child’s growth physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually.
Our Pre-School curriculum is designed to promote and enrich early learning opportunities for all ages and abilities. We utilize the Massachusetts curriculum frameworks and Teaching Strategies Gold for child observations and assessments.
Our classrooms offer a wide selection of wonderful early learning furnishing that have been carefully selected to stimulate your child’s natural curiosity and desire to learn.
Preschool programs are offered at the New Bedford YMCA and Sippican elementary school. Please see locations below for more information.

YMCA Southcoast has been a leading provider of quality day camp programs for over more than 50 years. We pride ourselves on the quality character and caliber of our well-trained camp staff. Our counselors and program specialists are chosen carefully selected based on their maturity and proven ability to be positive role models for your child(ren).
