About Mansfield Arts YMCA Theater Camp

Summer camp is a unique environment that helps kids develop independence and an understanding of community. Through a combination of physical, social, and educational activities, kids learn how to be interdependent and contribute to a group. At summer camp, children learn the importance of self-reliance and social responsibility. Engaging in a variety of activities, including physical, social, and educational pursuits, they gain an appreciation of how their own independence contributes to the overall success of the group. This invaluable experience helps kids develop a sense of belonging and a greater understanding of the world around them.

Theater Production Camp
Grades 2-9 Throughout the course of the session, theatre campers work together to produce, rehearse and perform a play. We begin each day with a warm-up and game, then spend mornings learning choreography, music, and scenes of the play. After lunch, campers rotate between outdoor play activities and additional rehearsal time. This program requires additional attendance at all dress rehearsals and performances, which will take place at the Orpheum Theatre Foxboro on the specified dates and times. This year we will perform Music Man Jr. and Matilda, The Musical.

Musical Theater Cabaret
Grades 2-9 Sing and dance your way into summer fun in this one week musical theatre camp! Throughout the week, campers will learn music and choreography from a variety of different Broadway musicals. At the end of the week, the group will share their mini-cabaret performance with family and friends.

Story Explorers
Ages 3-6 Our youngest actors will use their bodies, voices, and imaginations to bring stories to life on stage. Through a variety of games, crafts, and drama exercises, students will learn the foundations of acting and storytelling. At the end of the week the group will share their learning through a brief, informal demonstration.
