About Essex Art Center

Essex Art Center is a vibrant community of artists of all ages and backgrounds in Greater Lawrence. Our mission is to inspire and sustain lifelong growth and learning for everyone in our community. We offer a wide variety of classes, events, and exhibitions to help unlock creative potential and foster meaningful connections. Through the power of art, we strive to make a positive impact and enrich the lives of all our participants. Our programs are designed to fully engage people with the creative process, and help them discover their own artistic potential. We offer a range of classes for all levels of experience, from beginner to advanced, in a variety of mediums such as painting, drawing, and printmaking. Our events provide a platform for artists to learn from each other and exchange ideas. Our exhibitions showcase the work of both emerging and established artists, providing opportunities to connect with a larger art world. At Essex Art Center, we believe that art has the power to transform lives. We strive to give everyone in our community a safe and inspiring space to express themselves and learn new skills. Our goal is to foster a sense of belonging and community, and help our participants discover their own unique creative voice.

Clay Time
Students of all levels will work on individual projects through hand-building and wheel throwing. The instructor will guide students in creating projects that push the limits of clay and creativity. This course includes lots of demonstrations and one-on-one instruction. All levels are welcome.

Simply Watercolor
As the weather cools the painting process promises to warm up! Are you ready to get your paper, paint and brushes out…just for the simple joy of experiencing watercolor? Maybe you’ve always thought about taking a watercolor class, or you’re a watercolorist looking to further explore the infinite wonders of combining paint and water. You might be somewhere in-between. We will work from photos and still life. Some guidance will be available within a relaxing, fun atmosphere.

Digital Art
Learn how to draw on an iPad using Procreate. Learn the tools and secrets that professional illustrators and digital artists use to create stunning digital masterpieces. Returning students are welcome. Essex Art Center provides iPads for in-class use. Students are welcome to bring their own as well.
