About Tony Williams Dance Center Jamaica Plain

At the Urban Nutcracker Dance Studio, we offer a variety of classes for dancers of all ages, from 3 to adult. Our mission is to embrace diversity and spread it through dance, and we offer a wide variety of classes in styles like ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop. We also have fun summer camps and school year programs, culminating in a grand recital at the end of the year. Donde la Danza y la Diversidad se Unen - this is the motto of the Urban Nutcracker Dance Studio. We strive to bring the joy of dance to all, regardless of age or background. We believe in the power of dance as a tool for inclusion and understanding. Our classes encompass a wide range of styles, from ballet to tap, jazz, and hip hop. We also host summer camps and school year programs designed to cultivate a love of dance in our students, ending in a spectacular recital.

Ballet training
This program will assure that City Ballet of Boston corps of aspiring dancers will reflect the ever growing diversity of Greater Boston. They are grateful for the ongoing support of the Carl and Ruth Shapiro Family Foundation for their continued support.

"Releve” is a scholarship-based program
The Program with the goal of improving ballet technique in young aspiring dancers, particularly from diverse and underserved communities. In addition to the technique classes offered, students in the ”Releve” program will learn dance history, and will have an opportunity to appear in a special virtual presentation

Boston City Youth Ballet (BCYB)
Is a new ballet trainee program for teenagers aged 12-17. The BCYB will train dancers to become apprentices of the City Ballet of Boston. BCYB will meet for two hours. The program will consist of ballet technique class and repertoire variations, including sections from “Anthony Williams’ Urban Nutcracker.” In addition to rehearsal, we will offer dance history, pointe shoe preparation, and essential information for the aspiring dancer.
