About Musik Garten

At First Church, we understand how important music is for the spiritual health of our congregation and community. We are proud to offer a wide variety of music programs that provide opportunities for connection, artistry, and celebration. Despite the difficulties of the pandemic, we have continued to meet virtually and have added some new programs that take advantage of the digital medium. The music program at First Church is something that we are very passionate about. We are dedicated to making sure that our congregation and our community has access to the spiritual and artistic benefits of music. We strive to make sure that our programs are tailored to our current environment, and that we can still offer opportunities to connect, create, and celebrate despite the challenges of the pandemic. At First Church, we are excited to continue providing our music program, both virtually and in person. We are committed to finding creative ways to bring music into our lives, and to help our congregation and community feel inspired and connected.

The Junior Choir is comprised of children from Kindergarten through 4th Grade. After the musical, rehearsals are every Monday, from 6:30-7:00pm. Here the choristers learn vocal warm-up exercises, songs, play instruments, and learn the basics of notes, rhythms and pitch.

The Youth Choir is for singers in 7th through 12th Grades. Rehearsals after the musical are Monday evenings from 7:45-8:30pm. Youth Choir members further their understanding of musical concepts, and learn to sing mixed chorus pieces in three, four, and sometimes even more parts.
