About McGowan Irish Dance

Through collaboration, Rising Step seeks to inspire and foster creativity in Irish step dance, pushing the boundaries of the art form to create a new, dynamic experience. Rising Step’s mission is to re-imagine Irish step dance as a professional art form. By creating a space for dancers to explore the musicality of the tradition, Rising Step allows Irish dancers to craft their own performances and showcase the potential of the art form as a medium of artistic expression. Through its multifaceted, original choreography, Rising Step is elevating Irish step dance to a new level.

Children’s Step Dance
Focus on technique, steps, improvisation — step dancing, old style steps, sean-nós dance.

Traditional Sets (intermediate adults)
Traditional Irish step dance for dancers with several years of hard shoe experience. We’ll learn and workshop both jig & hornpipe set dances including the Three Sea Captains & An Súisín Bán (let me know your requests too!). There will also be a chance to polish dances in your repertoire. We will begin with a thorough warmup and get a good workout through technique drills, while focusing on developing fluidity and musicality.
