About Albany Park Community Center in Chicago, IL

Albany Park's story of transformation is truly remarkable. What was once an upper-working class Jewish neighborhood in the early 1960's is now one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the US. The population has changed significantly, with many poverty-level and low-income working class residents coming from a variety of backgrounds. The foreign-born residents come predominantly from Latin America, but also from the Philippines, India, Korea, Cambodia, Somalia, the Former Yugoslavia, Romania, Pakistan and the Middle East. With over 40 different languages being spoken in its public schools, Albany Park is a vibrant and diverse community. The transformation of Albany Park over the last 40 years has been remarkable. From an upper-working class Jewish neighborhood to one of the most diverse in the US, its population has changed significantly. Residents come from a variety of backgrounds, mainly Latin American but also from the Philippines, India, Korea, Cambodia, Somalia, the Former Yugoslavia, Romania, Pakistan and the Middle East. This is a testament to the cultural richness of the community with over 40 different languages being spoken in its public schools.

At APCC we provide comprehensive, high-quality pre-k & childcare for children 2-5 years of age. After School Program

APCC's After School program provides school aged youth (K-12) with high quality care, a safe environment and structured out-of-school time activities that promote learning, respect for others and positive attitudes. Youth receive homework help, healthy and well-balanced snacks and access to choice-based S.T.E.A.M. clubs like chess, robotics, theater and more! Our program runs year-round and provides a full day of care during CPS holidays and breaks. We offer affordable options and income based pricing for all.

Full-Day Childcare

In an effort to support working families in and around Albany Park, APCC will offer full-day childcare for school aged youth (Ages 5-12) at our Kimball location beginning September 8th, 2020. Enrolled youth will benefit from eLearning support, homework help, healthy meals & snacks, scheduled breaks & recess, afterschool enrichment (3:00pm -6:00pm)

Youth Camps

APCC provides robust camps for youth during CPS' fall, winter, spring and summer breaks. Enrolled youth will enjoy a variety of classroom based S.T.E.A.M. activities, outdoor recreation and field trips. Our camps promote social-emotional, cognitive and physical development through experiential learning and enrichment. Healthy breakfast, lunch and snack options are included in the cost of camp to ensure youth are receiving proper nutrition outside of their home and school environments.
