This mission was entrusted to them by the State of Georgia in 1975, when they were granted use of the property in Waycross. The Board of Directors have taken this mission seriously and use the property for the benefit of the visually impaired community. At other times of the year, the Georgia Lions Camp's properties are used in a way that directly or indirectly serves the visually impaired and helps to support the primary mission of recreational opportunities. The Board of Directors of the Georgia Lions Camp work hard to ensure that the property entrusted to them is used to its fullest potential. Their mission is to provide a unique recreational experience to the visually impaired of Georgia and the surrounding states, which they do by using the property for other purposes that support their primary mission.

During the school breaks, our camps provide a safe and fun-filled environment for children in kindergarten through 8th grade. We run from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and provide two snacks per day, as well as a range of academic enrichment activities from Chess to Robotics to STEM. This overnight Christian camp, located just two hours east of bustling Atlanta, has been serving as a peaceful retreat since 1992. Our primary offering is a week-long summer camp, but we've expanded over the years to include more than just summer fun. As part of our mission to support families and churches, we now also host three family camps throughout the year, as well as four parent/child retreats. These events offer a chance for families to bond, parents to connect with their children, and individuals to grow in their faith. Moreover, our facilities are not exclusive to our organized events. Camp Swamp also offers rentals to schools, churches, universities, sports teams, and even business groups.
