About Swim Like Sawyer Infant Swimming Resource

Founded in 1966, Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) is a nationally recognized provider of safety-focused swimming lessons for infants and young children. For over 45 years, their Self-Rescue® program has been developed and refined by highly trained certified Instructors, resulting in a proven history of success. ISR believes that the most important part of drowning prevention is equipping children with survival swimming skills, and their program has already produced over 300,000 graduates and 800 documented survival stories. In addition to their program, ISR also encourages parents to use pool fences, supervision, and pool alarms as part of an overall approach to keeping children safe around water.

Lessons for a 6-12 Month Old
Lessons for a 6-12 month old focus on teaching the child to roll onto their back to float, rest and breathe, and to be able to maintain this life-saving position until help arrives.

Lessons for Children 1-6 Years Old
Lessons for children 1-6 years old focus on teaching the swim-float-swim survival sequence. Children learn to swim with their head down; roll onto their back to float, rest, and breathe; and roll back over to resume swimming until they reach the side of the pool, where they can either crawl out or until they can be rescued.

Refresher Lessons
The development of your child's ISR Self-Rescue® skills must be continued and maintained, which calls for refresher lessons. Children grow and develop rapidly from infants to toddlers and young children. This development process represents improved strength, coordination, and a more finely tuned cognitive ability. In accordance with this growth, children enrolled in ISR return periodically to participate in Refresher Lessons.
