About Florida Children's Theatre formerly Fort Lauderdale Children's Theatre in Fort Lauderdale, FL

Florida Children’s Theatre (FLCT) is an amazing 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that has been proudly serving the children and families of South Florida since 1952. Founded by two mothers in a garage, the theatre quickly grew to become the first cultural organization in Broward County to purchase its own building and to perform at the Parker Playhouse, the Broward County Library Theatre, and the Dillard Center for the Arts. Today, FLCT offers a wide range of educational programming including five mainstage productions, year-round classes in acting and creative drama, summer camps, and many other performances and outreach programs. With its headquarters at the Fine Arts Theatre at Broward College Central Campus in Davie, FLCT is able to reach over 25,000 individuals each year.

Summer Camp

Campers rehearse and perform a full stage production of a popular musical as well as play theatre games, learn theatre skills, and partake in other fun summer camp activities.

Acting & Musical Theatre

Utilizing creative play, our youngest students explore the range of their imaginations through theatre games, music, movement, and children’s literature, this program is ideal to help children develop self confidence, focus, and teamwork as they enhance creativity and problem‐solving skills. End-of-session showcases may be filmed (virtual) or in-person. Check with your teacher each session.

BeAKid
PERFORMANCE PROJECT

Performance Project takes students on the complete journey of putting on a show. The process begins with mock auditions and culminates in the performance of a one‐act play or musical. Along the way, class activities focus on character development and script analysis through work on a specific play or musical. Performance Project provides students with the opportunity to expand their performing talents and every student gets a part in the show. The final production will be performed for friends and family with costumes, lights and sets.
