About The Fairchild Challenge

The Fairchild Challenge is an incredible environmental science competition that engages students of all different backgrounds, abilities, and talents. This award-winning program has been praised for its exceptional STEM education, and for inspiring students in PreK – 12th grade to become the next generation of scientists, researchers, educated voters, policy makers, and environmentally-conscious citizens. By taking part in any number of the annual Challenges, schools can accrue points and compete for awards and prizes. The Fairchild Challenge is designed to encourage young people of all different backgrounds to explore the natural world. It has been recognized not only for its superior STEM education, but for empowering students in PreK – 12th grade to be the future of science, research, politics, and environmentalism. Schools can participate in any number of the annual Challenges and receive points to win awards and prizes. The Fairchild Challenge is an excellent way to promote environmental science and engage students of different backgrounds. It has been honored for its advanced STEM education and for inspiring PreK – 12th grade students to be the next generation of scientists, researchers, voters, policy makers, and environmental activists. Summer Camp Discovery

Camp Discovery is a fun and educational adventure for students 7-12 years old every single day! It offers kids an opportunity to explore Fairchild’s tropical oasis, hang out with exotic butterflies, experiment with plants that can feed astronauts, and even create, in our new state-of-the-art maker studio. Campers are sure to love it!

Innovation Studio Summer Camp

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is excited to offer a STEAM-based summer camp on-site. Taking place in our Innovation Studio, your camper will be presented with a set of projects that will challenge them to think critically, curiously, and creatively. This camp program is designed for students 7-12 years old.

Homeschool Programs

Fairchild’s homeschool programs are especially designed for children between the ages of 7-12. Each workshop includes authentic, interactive lessons on-site where every child can take part in real-world research as Fairchild’s botanists do. Programs will take place select Mondays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. There is limited space available and online registration is required. Supplies for all science activities are provided. Register for programs by selecting a date below. For groups larger than 15 students, please consider scheduling a field trip for your students.
