At EcoWorks, we believe that communities should strive to reduce waste and preserve our shared planet. We are a social enterprise that is dedicated to making sure that we do our part in protecting the environment. We provide educational programs and services that promote resource conservation, creativity, and community engagement. Through these initiatives, we hope to inspire people to think of items that are typically thought of as waste, as materials with endless possibilities. EcoWorks seeks to empower individuals and communities to develop sustainable practices that will reduce waste and protect our environment. We provide programs and services that involve material reuse, waste reduction, recycling, composting, and zero-waste strategies. Our mission is to strengthen a sense of community and to promote creative, educational, and environmental initiatives that will benefit our planet and our society. Through these efforts, we can ensure that our planet is taken care of in a sustainable manner.

CREATIVE REUSE

EcoWorks is a type of small niche recycler (that’s fancy for a thrift store) that promotes the use of surplus materials for art, craft, and education. Creative Reuse is the practice of repurposing a ‘waste stream’ material to give it a second (or third, etc.) life as something useful and enduring. Extending the lifecycle of any object reduces its carbon footprint, directly reducing pollution in our community. When it comes to waste, we really believe there is no ‘away’.

REBOUTIQUE

There are so many excellent examples of re-thinking design in our boutique, our consignment shop for makers who use the type of goods we reclaim. We showcase the work of local artists who use 85% recycled (second-sourced) materials to make truly unique upcycled items. Our consignment generates micro-income for makers. We offer a 60/40% split in favor of the artist.
