Our founder, Alex, had a personal mission to provide children with the knowledge of swimming and learning what she believes is an essential life skill. Alex’s commitment to her mission has led Desert Swim Academy to become a leader in the community for teaching swimming and water safety. Our goal is to equip children with vital swimming and water safety skills that will enable them to enjoy the water for years to come. We also strive to educate parents on how to #stopdrownings and preventable water accidents. Our team of experienced instructors are committed to helping everyone reach their goals while having a safe and enjoyable experience.

Baby Shark 3 Months- 2 Years Old

Baby Shark is a year-round group program that gets parents in the water with their child as early as 3 months old. The purpose of this course is to familiarize your infant and toddler with the water and teach swimming readiness skills. This course primarily focuses on early water awareness, as it develops your child’s motor skills and muscle memory. Basic skills that are taught include: #WaterAwareness, floating, reaching for walls, flipping and breathing. The greatest gift offered by the Baby Shark program is the bonding experience that parents get to spend with their child while learning life saving lessons. Baby Shark classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from either 11:30am-12:00pm, or 4:30pm-5:00pm. Private lessons may be done at home or the Palm Desert Aquatic Center.

Private Lessons 2 Years Old and Up

Private lessons are an extension of the Baby Sharks program. These lessons include one-on-one time with a skilled Desert Swim Academy instructor. Benefits from private lessons allow quicker progress to be seen in the child’s ability to swim. Private swim lessons are the most effective way to develop water safety skills and becoming more confident in the water without the use of a life jacket. This course essentially teaches your child how to swim! These lessons are individually designed and taught on a one-on-one basis in the comfort of your own home or the Palm Desert Aquatic Center.

Swim Team 5-12 Years Old

Desert Swim Academy Swim Team focuses on learning to swim with other students while building teamwork, stroke development, and confidence. Our goals are to increase strength, speed, endurance and stamina while learning all strokes. The Swim Team is separated into two groups; beginner and intermediate. The beginners team focuses on learning stroke development while in a team-orientated setting, and the intermediate team goals are to learn how to do flip turns, dive, read swim workouts, and perfect all strokes. Each team meets twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 16:00-17:00. Students must bring their own swim caps and goggles. NO make-up classes are offered for Swim Team, as consistency is key in this program.
