Each morning, they’d roll out of their surfboard-shaped beds, pop a sunshine-yellow hat on their heads, and buckle up their flip-flops. With the energy of a sugar-rushed squirrel, they'd zip down the beach, practicing their cheers and stunts, their voices rising above the seagulls squawking, making even the grumpiest of sea crabs crack a smile. The leader of this bouncy band was a girl named Cali. Now, Cali was genuinely something else.
